Turkish delegation in Parliament
27 January 2015

In January 2015 Dods Training put together a study visit  for a senior delegation from The Ministry of Family and Social Policy. The visit was part of the Pan-EU member state project for the “Improved Integration of Disabled Persons into Society” aiming to strengthen the capacity of both the Ministry and NGOs in Turkey working in the field of disability.

Having visited Sweden, France, Germany and Spain, the group wanted to visit the UK in early 2015 and sought the help of Dods Training to facilitate their engagement with the UK Government, leading institutions, NGOs and other interested parties within the field of disability rights and policy. Amongst other aspects, the delegation hoped to glean best practice from the UK in the following areas; Registration of disabled persons, organisation of national databases, complaints procedures, the organisation of monitoring task of CSOs as foreseen by the UN Convention and state-NGO dialogue. They also wanted exposure to employment, care and education solutions offered in the UK as well as discussion of social security and accessibility issues.
