Jenny was the Lib Dem Member of Parliament for Cardiff Central from 2005 to 2015. During her decade in Parliament she was a member of the Work & Pensions and Public Administration Select Committees.
Jenny was a minister in the Coalition Government, serving as a Whip and Minister for Consumer Affairs in the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and Minister for Women and Equalities, in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. In this latter role, she attended Cabinet, the first female Lib Dem and female Welsh MP to do so.
Prior to getting elected to Parliament, she worked in the voluntary sector, mainly in international development charities and children’s charities, and she was Chief Executive of Victim Support South Wales immediately before entering Parliament.
She has been involved in policy development in the voluntary sector, the Lib Dems, Parliament and inside Government. Since leaving Parliament in 2015, she has used her experience to train MPs, MPs’ staff and civil servants in how to work within Parliament, with ministers and on policy development. She is also working with a London university on enterprise and community relations.
