Bite-size Crisis and Media Communication Learning for AESGP

The Challenge

AESGP is the Association for the European Self-Care industry, a non-profit organisation that represents the manufacturers of non-prescriptive drug medicines, food supplements, and self-care medical devices in Europe, an area also referred to as ‘self-care’ or ‘consumer health care’ products.

As part of their annual conference, and ongoing support to their membership, AESGP organises webinars and in-person sessions of 90 to 120 minutes on topical issues raised by their membership. Managing media in a crisis was a common theme.

Solution

Dods Training communication expert, Sarah Wachter, delivered a series including Handling the Media in a Crisis, Coordinating Communication in a Crisis, Effectively Communicating your ESG Credentials and Managing Fake News and Disinformation.  These sessions combined presentation of best practices and an opportunity to apply them to case studies, exercises, and even live simulations. The diversity of backgrounds of the participants – being regulators, senior leaders, communication leads, their cross Europe identity, and whether they were coming from a corporate or small business enterprise, brought a richness of perspectives.

Results

Most evaluation respondents indicated that the sessions were very helpful.
